Ok so moving on from the first post. Another way to look at this guess is meaning well formed code. To do this though you will ahve to start somewhere so i wonder if you would consider symantecs the origins of a well coded page.

Check out this page. they go back to the basics and break it down.

http://brainstormsandraves.com/articles/semantics/structure/

JHG

So, semantic huh. When first thinking of this term i think of a company called Symantec. They are a software company who dedicates tehre money to try and stay ahead of those hakers we all love. Anyways I did a little digging and found that semantec in our coding world is teh means by which attention information to our sites. Not everyone is on bored, according to the guys over in economist.com.

"It sounds a mess and it is. As a result it has been hard to persuade
those who post web pages to include all the semantic-web stuff in their
postings, too. Such marking up, as it is known, goes against the whole
spirit of the web, which succeeded where similar ventures failed
precisely because it was easy to use." http://www.economist.com/displaystory.cfm?story_id=11002939

I can see why it can become a problem especially referring to symantec the software publisher. People already expose vulnarabilities in our everyday lives especially if you are a "PC" user. not so much "Mac". but if we start adding content that can be sent behind the scenes to whom ever is trying to connect can you imagine what kind of chaos this would create?

Now I am not all bitter about this subject. I think it has its perks as well. See when you start putting useful information behind the scenes that can be downloaded without necessary interaction of a user that is cool. We already try to maximize our time and productivity whenever we surf on the web and this is one way to definitely help that process out.

JHG

Article by Jina Bolton

http://www.sitepoint.com/article/breaking-out-of-the-box

In this article Gina pretty much reflects on what it is that i am after or understand CSS to be. I think CSS can do much more then people give credit to it for doing. With programs such as flash which animate and give sites cool features it is easy to see why people overlook CSS. Not so much now though as thoughs who are true we gurus nderstan that HTML coped with CSS is a potent combination. Jina is one who i am starting to follow ever since i read her article titled Creating sexy style shheets i ahve been more interested in hr work. She is diverse in her work from what i can see and has much to offer. Hope you guys enjoy the article.

Here is the second one. This is sort of old as i found it a while ago but it is good too.

http://www.thinkvitamin.com/features/design/creating-sexy-stylesheets

This one is not so much code but i still like it because she goes into detail about how css can be considered sexy. sounds wierd but after you read it you will see what i mean.

JHG
